    SWIM MEET VOCABULARY

Heat Sheet: A list of all participants, ordered by event number. Your child will have a number by their name (1/2, 2/5, etc.) The top number tells you which heat they are in for their event and the bottom number tells you the lane they’ll swim in.

Event: Events are numbered based on stroke and age group. For example, Event #1 is 7-8 Girls 50 yd Freestyle, Event #2 is 7-8 Boys 50 yd Freestyle, Event #3 is 9-10 Girls 50 yd Freestyle, etc.

Heat: Most events will have 2-3 heats, or groups of swimmers, swimming each event. First heat is the fastest, then next fastest, etc.

Bullpen: Gathering area for the swimmers in upcoming events. Our Bullpen volunteers are located behind the blocks to assist with placing swimmers in the correct lane. Please arrive 2 events prior to your event.
