Titan Times Meet 1

Hello Titans- The time has come for our first swim meet of the 2026 season, and we couldn't be more excited! We will have regular practice tomorrow- we hope to see everyone there for some last minute preparations.  We will also distribute your Titans t-shirt during practice tomorrow!  Wear your team shirt for picture day, which is on Wednesday May 27th at 9:30 am before the fun day (more details to follow).

** We are still in need of volunteers to run the meet.  This is a home meet and requires us to provide many volunteers. Please go to our Swimtopia page to sign up for a job - we can't run the meet without more volunteers. Our coordinators will be available to help with questions on how to sign up!

There is a lot to cover this week, so please forgive me for the long email!

Location: Home meet: East Cobb Swim and Tennis

Time: Meet begins at 6 pm; swimmers should arrive by 4:45

-Heat Sheet:

We will post the heat sheet with all the swimmers' heats and lanes at approximately 2 pm tomorrow.  We will then send a PDF soon after via email.

-Arrival:

Coaches and coordinators should arrive @ 4 pm to set up.

Swimmers should arrive by 4:45 pm.  All swimmers should have their events, heats, and lanes written in sharpie on their arm. Be sure to write their first/last name and age on their right shoulder in sharpie. Ask a coach for help if needed!

Our team will sit on the side on the far end (the shady side). We will have our side  marked. We can also fill in at the shallow end.

Bring 2 towels per swimmer, sweatshirt (could be chilly), goggles, camping chairs, and cash for the concession stand

-Warm-ups:

Ages 5-10 will warm up from 5- 5:15 pm

Ages 11-18 will warm up from 5:15 - 5:30 pm

-Volunteers:

Check in at the table upon arrival to pick up your name tags and any items needed for your shift

The official will call a volunteer meeting for ALL timers, place judges, runners, and starters to discuss important meet information at 5:45.

**1st shift volunteers should be ready at 5:45 - you will do your volunteer job from event 1 through event 42.

**2nd shift volunteers should be ready to relieve the first shift at event 43 and stay through even 86.  Please arrive a few events before to familiarize yourself with the job.

Thank you for volunteering!

Concessions:

Please consider patronizing our concession stand - our volunteers work so hard putting this together, and it helps us raise money for items and league fees needed to keep our awesome swim team afloat!  We will offer baked potatoes, hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos, pizza, and chili, chips, candy, and a variety of drinks - WOW! What a spread! We accept cash and Zelle for payment options.

*****Swim meets are not canceled due to rain/thunder***** Plan to attend rain or shine. We continue swimming if it is only raining, and delay for 30-minute increments during thunder or lightning. The coordinators from both teams must all unanimously agree on the status of resuming or rescheduling meets, and the official has the final say on when the meet can continue. If meets are cancelled, a make-up date must be rescheduled. So, it benefits the whole team to stay put through weather delays and complete the meet to avoid the headache of rescheduling. Please keep in mind that all coordinators are volunteers and are actively trying to do what's best for both teams. During a weather delay, we will give periodic announcements as needed.

Important reminders for swimmers:

Always listen carefully to your coaches' and official's instructions.

Have your parents write your events, heat, and lane on your arm; Write your name and age on your shoulder

For individual races - Report to your lane 4 events prior to the start of your event -

The coaches will place you in a line - it's important to stay put!

For relays - Report to your lane 5 events prior. The coaches will then take you to the correct side, lane, and position.  Stay put and wait for further instructions from your coaches.

Clean up:

We are grateful for our positive relationship with the ECST board.  Please take care of pool property and leave your area the way you found it upon arrival.  Trash cans will be available around the vicinity - Thanks in advance!

Bruster's:

It has become a tradition to meet at the Bruster's off Shallowford Rd (near Lassiter high school) right after the meet.  The coaches will be there ready to celebrate all of the great swims!

Fun Day and Picture Day:

Picture Day will start at 9:30 sharp (arrive at 9:15)- All swimmers are required to wear their T-shirt for the team photo. Please take care of your t-shirt at the swim meet and wear it for the team picture.  We won't have any extras to borrow this time around. Thank you to our wonderful parent volunteer, Josh Vensel, for offering to snap these photos for us!  See the attachment for more picture day information!

Fun Day will be from 10-11 am.  This year we will have a more structured play time for age groups to ensure safety.  Please listen to your coaches when it is your turn to play in the deep end and get donuts. Again, please clean up after yourselves and throw away your trash before leaving.
